in order to further promote the construction of college teaching and employment practice base, promote the benign interaction and win-win development of legal theory and judicial practice, and speed up the training of first-class legal research and legal application talents, the law school and zhuhai court of international arbitration formally signed an exchange and cooperation agreement on the morning of december 29, 2021. wang shoujun, member of the standing committee of beijing normal university party committee, associate dean and director of zhuhai campus management committee, attended the event and delivered a speech. wang ruisen, president of zhuhai court of international arbitration, wu xueting, vice president, wang gang, vice president, yan wenjing, head of the case acceptance center of zhuhai court of international arbitration, and zhang ning, staff member of the administration department, visited zhuhai campus to attend the signing ceremony. moreover, yuan zhijie, associate dean of our institute, director of the research center for rule of law development, mi jian, distinguished professor of the research center for rule of law development, professor xia limin and associate professor li yi, all attended the meeting. the signing ceremony was presided over by zhang zongqing, deputy director of the research center for rule of law development.
first of all, mr. zhang zongqing introduced the participants from both sides. and then, all the participants watched the campus propaganda film of beijing normal university together.
then, wang shoujun, member of the standing committee of beijing normal university party committee, associate dean and director of zhuhai campus management committee, delivered a speech. on behalf of beijing normal university, wang shoujun first extended a warm welcome to all the participants, and then introduced the history of beijing normal university in zhuhai in detail. he pointed out that as an important part of beijing normal university’s construction of “comprehensive, research-oriented, leading university with chinese characteristics and world-class teacher education”, zhuhai campus will be built into a southern campus with the same level and standard as beijing campus. since the ministry of education approved the construction of beijing normal university, zhuhai, beijing normal university has vigorously promoted the construction of zhuhai campus in accordance with the principle of “high standard, new mechanism and internationalization”, and made precise policies in personnel training, scientific research, teaching staff, capital construction, etc., combining with the needs of the country, the advantages of normal university and the ability of the campus, with remarkable results. in the future, zhuhai campus will further integrate the superior discipline resources of beijing normal university, and make continuous efforts in education reform and innovation, cultural prosperity and development, ecological civilization construction, etc., to help zhuhai city build an international and modern special economic zone. the school gives full play to the advantages of the discipline of law, establishes a research center for the development of rule of law in zhuhai campus, and explores a new model of staggered and incremental development of the discipline of law in beijing and zhuhai. vice-president wang shoujun pointed out that the cooperation between law school and zhuhai court of international arbitration has far-reaching practical significance in promoting the training and mutual exchange of law talents in greater bay area. he hoped that both sides could seize the opportunity and continue to carry out in-depth cooperation in the future to jointly contribute to the legal construction and rapid development in greater bay area.
wang ruisen, president of zhuhai court of international arbitration, also gave a speech later. president wang introduced the basic situation of zhuhai court of international arbitration, which is the first permanent arbitration institution in china with the council as the core, and implements the separation of decision-making, execution and supervision and effectively connects them. since its establishment, zhuhai court of international arbitration has been committed to implementing the arbitration legal system, developing and perfecting the international commercial arbitration mechanism, exploring diversified solutions to commercial disputes, and serving the international and legal business environment construction. president wang ruisen also introduced the mechanism and system reform of the zhuhai court of international arbitration in recent years, emphasizing that the construction of the deep cooperation zone between guangdong-hong kong-macao greater bay area and guangdong and macao is an important opportunity period for the development of zhuhai arbitration. at the same time, cooperation and exchange with the law school of beijing normal university will provide strong intellectual support for the development of zhuhai court of international arbitration. the formal signing of the agreement will open up all-round, deep-level and long-term cooperation in scientific research and practice between the two sides, and he hopes that with the joint efforts of both sides, win-win cooperation can be achieved.
subsequently, the two sides formally signed an exchange and cooperation agreement, which was signed by wu xueting, vice president of zhuhai court of international arbitration, and yuan zhijie, associate dean of the law school. zhuhai court of international arbitration and the law school of beijing normal university will jointly build a teaching and research base, conduct in-depth exchanges and cooperation in personnel training and graduate recruitment, arbitration practice base, jointly organizing arbitration law publicity activities, and jointly carrying out vocational training for arbitrators and case-handling secretaries. besides, both parties will establish mechanisms such as arbitration academic research and exchange activities, research topics of arbitration theory and practice, and sharing of arbitration experts’ talent resources. in addition to these, the law school and zhuhai court of international arbitration will jointly set up the arbitration scholarship in the name of zhuhai court of international arbitration to reward students who have made outstanding achievements in the field of arbitration theory and practice and are interested in arbitration.
after the signing of the cooperation agreement, the delegates held discussions and exchanges on topics of mutual interest, and this signing activity ended in a satisfactory way. through this activity, the delegates of zhuhai court of international arbitration learned about the “one body, two wings” school-running pattern of beijing normal university and the discipline advantages of law school. the delegates of law school also learned about the development process of zhuhai court of international arbitration, the work of the arbitration institute, the construction of legal business environment for arbitration institutions and so on. the school also looks forward to taking this signing ceremony as an opportunity to combine the advantages of local resources with the advantages of talents and disciplines in colleges and universities, further deepen the cooperation in the fields of law discipline construction and personnel training, and constantly improve in terms of theory and practice, and promote the quality of personnel training.
